Painted grey with the “Shadow Keystone” logo and lettering in black, on Bettendorf trucks. PRR constructed the 400 class H34A covered hoppers at Altoona June 1955, using components fabricated by Pullman-Standard. The roof hatches have been moved outward toward the car ends and have been stenciled with the less stylized variation of PRR’s “Calendar” font. The H34-types were the first PRR covered hopper cars to be turned out new in gray paint with black stenciling.

Built by Pullman standard in 1957, 250 cars from this lot were first placed under the T&NO reporting mark and then later remarked into the SP series 402048-402297. Many of the materials transported were highly corrosive. The PS-2 was designed to withstand their inherent effects and keep maintenance regulations to a minimum.

These PS-2 covered hoppers are painted light gray with black and white herald and black lettering. It was built in April 1956 by Pullman-Standard, serviced in March 1981, and runs on Roller Bearing trucks. Special interior linings were given for sugar, grain and abrasive service. Around 1981, these hoppers were moved from their original series and placed into Maintenance of Way service for the Boston & Maine and remained in service through 2009.

Painted green with dark lettering, large “BN” heralds and “Burlington Northern” letters in white; runing on Roller Bearing trucks. These AAR class LO hoppers were built by Pullman Standard in 1964 and originally numbered the 76000-76119 series. They were repainted and renumbered into the 430102-430214 series sometime after the consolidation of the Northern Pacific, CB&Q, Great Northern and the SP&S Railway on March 2, 1970, to form the Burlington Northern Railroad.

The principle commodity of these hoppers is cement. Other typical lading includes sand, potash, soda ash, lime, alumina, fertilizers, dolomite, soap, salt, plastic pellets and flour. The PS-2 was designed to withstand the corrosive effects of some of the laded material and keep regulated maintenance to a minimum.

This hopper was serviced in Nov '67 on Roller Bearing trucks. This 70 ton PS-2 two bay covered hopper is painted gray with a large black herald and lettering. It was built in January 1960 by Greenville Steel Car Co., last serviced in September 1980, and runs on Roller Bearing trucks. Built in 1960 and numbered into series 111100-111199, this car was repainted into this 1963 scheme when earlier shopped during the later ‘60s. It was most recently shopped in 1980. By that time the U-1 symbol and stencil box had been added.

This PS-2 70-ton two-bay covered hopper is painted blue with large white GT logo and Grand Trunk Western lettering. The cars are lettered in white. They were built in June 1965, serviced in July 1985, and run on Roller Bearing trucks. These cars received this Burdakin blue paint and new “wet noodle” logo in 1985 and worked out of Milton, VT. The PS-2 was designed to withstand the inherent effects of corrosives and keep maintenance regulations to a minimum.

Painted white w/ large black CSX herald and black lettering. It also bears red and yellow ‘Ease Up’ warnings. Built in '65 and runs the east and midwest on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. CSX Transportation was formed on July 1, 1986, as a combining and renaming of the Chessie System, Inc. and Seaboard System Railroad into one entity. CSX operates one of the three Class I railroads serving most of the East Coast, and also serves the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec.

Painted green w/ black & yellow logo, yellow lettering. Built date is unknown but was serviced in 11/1978 on Roller Bearing trucks. The Chicago and N. Western Transportation Co. was a Class I railroad in the Midwest US. In 1972 the company was sold to its employees and named the Chicago and North Western Railway. The C&NW became one of the longest railroads in the US as a result of mergers with other railroads, such as the CGW, M&St.L and others. The company was purchased by UP in April 1995 and ceased to exist.

Built for SLSF in 1966 by Pullman-Standard, these hoppers were merged into Burlington Northern, and later BNSF. They were painted into the newest BNSF “swoosh” logo in the late 2000s. BNSF was formed in 1995 following the merger of Burlington Northern and Santa Fe.
