Painted box car red w/ white lettering; built in 1977 by American Car & Foundry on Roller Bearing trucks. The KCS was incorporated 1887, and began operating 1890. The road extended westward across the Kaw River into Argentine, KS, up the bluffs into the wholesale and industrial districts of Kansas City, and eastward to Independence, MO. Today, the KCS Railway is an international railway providing seamless rail services for North American shippers.

Brown w/ aluminum doors, built 1965, by PS in Bessemer, AL; white ‘Southern’ heralds w/ white lettering. Equipped w/ Pullman’s Hydroframe-60 cushioning and Roller Bearing trucks. Southern Railway is the product of nearly 150 predecessor lines that were combined, reorganized and recombined since the 1830s. Southern and its predecessors were responsible for many firsts in the industry, earning the company its catch phrase, “The Railway System that Gives a Green Light to Innovations.”

Brown w/ yellow herald & reflectors, white lettering; built '67, serviced in '87 w/ Roller Bearing trucks. The original Wisconsin Central was established 1871. It later became a component of SOO Line in '61. In 1987, the lines were sold to a company who re-used the WC name and logo. The new WC became one of the most successful regional railroads in the country. The WC line was upgraded to accommodate CN traffic which proved so successful that in 2001 the CN purchased the WC and assumed total control of the operations.

This 50’ rib side box car with plug doors is painted GTW Burdakin blue with aluminum roof and bears white lettering. It runs on black Barber Roller Bearing trucks. It was built in November of 1979 by the National Steel Car Company, in Hamilton, Canada. The GTW, a leading carrier of finished automobiles, links Detroit with Chicago. A 1980 merger with the Detroit, Toledo & Ironton RR gave the GTW a route from Detroit to Cincinnati, as well.

This 50’ rib side box car with plug door is painted brown with white herald and lettering. It was built in March 1968 and runs on Roller Bearing trucks. This box car was numbered into series #17100-17498 using even numbers only. It’s classified ‘XL’ which is loader equipped with steel perforated sidewalls or interior side rails for securement of certain types of lading and/or permanently attached moveable bulkheads.

This 50’ rib side box car is part of series 491050-491149, in its class B1-10-11. It was built in June 1971, at the Omaha, NE freight car shop. It is aluminum with sides painted reefer yellow. This car has no slogan applied to the side. UP began using the “We Can Handle It” slogan in 1972.

Painted red with white lettering and yellow reflectors. It was built in June 1976 as part of series 712961-713095 and runs on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway is the second-largest freight railroad network in North America, second to the Union Pacific. It is one of seven North American Class I Railroads and has three transcontinental routes that provide, true to its ‘Speed Logo’, high-speed links between the Western and Eastern United States.

Built August 1979 as a class BX 195. When a fleet of 151 of these cars were reweighed and painted, only 56227 received this ‘Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde’ appearance. With black roof and ends, the right side wears the correct box car red color. The other red paint was incorrectly added to the side left of the door; The red paint shade is only for cars equipped with ‘Shock Control.’ The large white rectangle with the ‘XF FOOD LOADING ONLY’ designation means that this car was assigned to food service.

Built in 1977 by FMC Portland, Oregon as part of series 151900-152099, these 50’ rib side box cars without roofwalk have shock control, nailable steel floor and lading anchors. They bear the white Santa Fe Circle/Cross logo with Yellow “Super Shock Control” and white lettering.

These 50’ rib side box cars with plug door and no roofwalk are red with white lettering and run on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. Built in 1970 by ATSF, these boxcars were insulated to transport temperature sensitive commodities. Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe was formed in 1859 and became one of the largest freight railroads in the nation before it merged with Burlington Northern Railroad in 1996 to form Burlington Northern Santa Fe which continues to operate to this day.
