These 40’ standard box cars with plug door are green with white lettering. Built in 1961 for Pacific Great Eastern, this car was repainted in 1979 by the North Vancouver Shops when the railroad was changed to British Columbia Railway. This 12 car series was insulated and equipped with heaters for temperature sensitive commodities.

These 40’ standard box cars with plug doors are brown with white lettering and run on Bettendorf trucks. Built in 1960, as part of series 290201-290501, these cars were part of an order of 300 units that were fitted with underslung heaters to provide above freezing temperatures during long transits. They were initially used for food stuffs but also found use carrying commodities that were somewhat temperature sensitive.

These 40’ standard box cars with plug doors are red with blue and red herald and run on Bettendorf trucks. Built in 1960 as part of series 2301-2449, few railroads had a colorful fleet like the B&A did. Many of their potato cars were solid red, white and blue but later the scheme was muted somewhat with a colorful logo on a standard brown scheme. These cars were climate controlled to maintain the quality of the perishables carried.

In 1985 Micro-Trains released its first Z scale freight car. In celebration of 30 years of making Z scale rolling stock, Micro-Trains has produced this 40’ Standard Box Car which proudly displays the MTL and Magne-Matic® logos and the ‘Route of the Magne-Matics’ slogan. To-date, Micro-Trains has offered 34 Z scale body styles with over 130 road names and hundreds of paint schemes. After 30 years, the ‘Route of the Magne-Matics’ is still going strong!
