These 50’ standard box cars with double sliding doors are painted brown with white logo and lettering. They were built in May 1957 by Pullman-Standard, serviced in January 1972, and runs on Bettendorf trucks. These were typical double-door PS1s with an eight-foot Camel main door and a seven-foot auxiliary door, offset to the left, and an inset fishbelly side sill. Although delivered without loader, seventy-two of the cars were equipped between 1957 and 1962 with DF fixtures for auto parts service.

These 50’ standard box cars with double doors are painted McGinnis Orange with black sills; they bear black and white logos and are lettered in white. They were built in November 1956 by Pullman Standard and run on Bettendorf trucks. Only 15 double door cars were delivered to New Haven by Pullman Standard in November 1956. Series 40500-40514 came equipped with double Youngstown doors. Pullman Standard sold the remaining cars to the C&O complete with NH appliances.

These 40’ standard box cars with double doors and jet engine container loads are painted brown with white logos and lettering. They were built in May 1957, serviced in July 1976, and run on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. The Consolidated Rail Corporation, commonly known as Conrail (reporting mark CR), was the primary Class I railroad in the Northeast U.S. between 1976 and 1999. The federal government created it to take over the profitable lines of bankrupt carriers.

Vermillion Red w/ the original 1957-large slant serif “GREAT NORTHERN” lettering and a “forward facing Rocky” herald. Built in 1957 and roll through the Northwestern District on Roller Bearing trucks. These are two of thousands built by the GN during the ‘50s to meet a growing demand for larger doors, permitting use of forklifts and larger loading devices. Many of this series were serviced and repainted into the GN Empire Builder paint scheme in the mid-1960s.

These 50’ standard box cars with double doors and roofwalks are painted synthetic red with the UP red, white and blue shields and large “Union Pacific” letters. the cars are lettered in white. Both were buit in April 1957, serviced in September 1961, and run on Bettendorf trucks. they were in the first series of cars to receive the “Ship & Travel” slogan formally approved in 1962. Only two cars remained in this series by the 1973.

Painted brown with white ‘Wet Noodle’ logo and lettering and run on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. Originally built by Canadian Car & Foundry (CCF) in October and November of 1957 and numbered into series 598000-598499 auto boxcars. They were converted into general boxcars beginning in 1965 after no longer being required as auto boxcars and renumbered into series 551000-551230. Our car has a service date of October 1975.

These 50’ standard box cars with double doors are green with white lettering and run on Bettendorf trucks. Built at DSI in 1952, this 71500-71999 series NYC box car had a load limit of 91,000 lbs, and continued to serve well into the 1970s Penn Central Era.

These 50’ standard box cars with double doors are blue with yellow lettering and run on Roller Bearing trucks. With a cushioned underframe and DF loaders, these 50’ general purpose boxcars were rebuilt by C&O in 1963 from 40’ cars and were based on a Pullman Standard design. Painted in the “C&O for Progress” blue and yellow scheme, they were used through the 1970s before being retired or relegated to MOW service.
