These 40’ standard box cars with single doors and no roofwalks are painted sky blue with black and white logos and black lettering. They were built in December 1951, serviced in June 1975 and run on Bettendorf trucks. In June 1975, to improve the Rock Island image, 736 cars were re-built by USRE (United States Railway Manufacturing Co.) and painted into the new “ROCK” Sky Blue paint scheme.

With gold lettering, snowflakes, a festive red door and a special signature from Micro-Mouse, this car celebrates his long awaited return.

These 40’ standard box cars with single sliding doors and no roofwalks are painted green with white logos and lettering. They were built in June 1945, serviced in August 1969 and run on Bettendorf trucks. When this series of box cars entered service for CB&Q, all were painted in the pre-merger Cascade Green paint scheme. The plan was to add the word NORTHERN below the BURLINGTON, but by the time the merger was consummated, the font had changed to a thinner style, so these cars never received the full merger name.

These 40’ standard box cars with single doors and no roofwalks are painted green with white ‘Rocky’ and ‘GREAT NORTHERN’ heralds and white lettering. They were built in March 1948 by Pressed Steel Car Co., serviced in December 1968, and run on Bettendorf trucks. Built as part of series 10900-011374, they were originally painted mineral red. Both of these cars were later painted glacier green and lettered in the modern post-1967 gothic lettering style.

This PRR 40’ standard box car with single Superior sliding door and no roofwalk is painted freight car red with large white keystone logo and white lettering. It was built in November 1951 by Pressed Steel Car Co., serviced in August 1965, and runs on Bettendorf trucks. Built as part of series 85400-86399, it wears the simplified lettering arrangement applied by the Pennsylvania Railroad in the 1960s.

Built in 1960 as part of series 11375-11875, these bear the simplified goat logo that would be standardized until the road merged with several others to form Burlington Northern in 1970.

These 40’ standard box cars with single door and no roofwalk are red with white lettering and run on Bettendorf trucks. Built in 1953, these cars were part of 550 XM-32 boxcars overhauled by the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad in 1968 at its Havelock shops. The CB&Q had extensive trackage throughout the Midwestern United States before merging other railroads to form Burlington Northern in 1970.

These 40’ standard box cars with single door and no roofwalk are green with white lettering and run on Bettendorf trucks. Following the end of WWII and the shipping of more sensitive cargos, “Damage Free,” or “DF” equipped box cars became common. These Northern Pacific DF equipped box cars were converted from general service cars in the mid-1960s.

These 40’ standard box cars with single door and no roofwalk are green with white lettering and run on Bettendorf trucks. These were of the 150 leased by the Rock Island in the series 47300-47499. They were built in the 1940s and then rebuilt in the 1960s to remove roofwalks and include upgraded DF2 loaders.

These 40’ standard box cars with single door and no roofwalk are brown with white lettering, and run on Roller Bearing trucks. Built by Pullman Standard in October of 1957 as part of series 126000-126524. It later had its roofwalk removed and continued in revenue service until the late 1970s before being relegated to MOW service.

These 40’ standard box cars with single door and no roofwalk are green with white lettering and run on Bettendorf trucks. Built in the early 1950s for Great Northern, this car featured a single sliding door and a 3898 cubic foot capacity. In the early 1971, it received a rebuild and fresh coat of BN Green after Great Northern merged to form Burlington Northern and remained on the roster for a few more years before being retired.
