"Will's Wheels!"
A NEW Z Scale Wheelset that is compatible with Bowser and FT trucks as well as with MTL trucks. Let me give you the run-down. When Bowser made their first Z Scale wheelsets, they were supposed to be compatible with MTL trucks. They were with some squeezing, but actually the axles were made 1/5,000 of an inch too long! But they worked great in Bowser's Bettendorf trucks. Super for towing long trains as their performance was impeccable! They didn't pick up dirt, and their metal composition made them glide over trackage much more smoothly than if plastic. Plus the sound of metal wheels on metal tracks is very pleasing to the ear and mocks the prototype tenor. Having made wheels in other Railroad Scales before, Bowser decided to add a little improvement to Z Scale wheels by adding in a Fillet between the flange and wheel tread. This acts to self-center the wheelset within the track. A boon for smooth running. Indeed, a nice wheelset. Those who have run Full Throttle cars equipped with Bowser Bucklers can attest to their efficiency and are often able to tow twice as many cars using these fine trucks and wheelsets. However, Uncle Will was insisting that the axles be shortened and an MTL compatible version be realized. During the process Bowser made several improvements to their original wheelsets! And now we have "Will's Wheels!"
Of course, the biggest change was to shorten the axle length. Now, these wheelsets are compatible with Bowser and FT Z Scale trucks as well as MTL Z Scale trucks! Next, the fillet was made a bit smaller. The wheels are still self-centering in the track, but there is a bit more "slop" for them between track rails. This allows the wheelsets more room to navigate small radius track and also provides allowances for hand-laid track. The profile has been changed as well. Still featuring low profile flanges, there is a greater and longer "scoop" to the face, if you will, and thus we have a more prototypical appearance! Being metal, there is, naturally, an insulated wheel, and the weight lowers the center of gravity for Z Scale cars. Much better tracking is consequently afforded! Altogether, "Will's Wheels!" is an extraordinary product which grants super rolling for Z Scale cars, permits longer consists, and sounds wonderful on trackage!
"Will's Wheels!" come packaged in the familiar Full Throttle clear plastic cases, which are handy for Z Scale "Parts" storage, and are available as 12 Pair (24 Axles) or 24 Pair (48 Axles). Multiples of the 48 Axle Cases give great savings for bulk buying.
