The Lehigh and New England Railroad (AAR reporting marks LNE) was a connection from northeastern Pennsylvania (Tamaqua, Slatington, Allentown) towards the Poughkeepsie Bridge across the Hudson River (Campbell Hall, NY). Originally planned as a continuous line east to Boston, plans were later cut back to a section west of the river. Due to the decline of mining in Pennsylvania, the LNE was shut down in 1961, and parts in Pennsylvania became part of the Central Railroad of New Jersey (later part of Conrail).
