#NZT-001 N/Z/T English Scale Ruler multi-scale

• Designed for modelers who work in multiple scales, this handy English (US Customary) ruler has foot scales for 1:160, 1:220 and 1:450. It measures 6" long by 1.25" wide. #NZT-004 Z Scale Clearance Gauge Set

• This set of three clearance gauges handles different railroading eras as defined by the NMRA: pre-1920, 1920-1969, and post-1969. The dimensions adhere strictly to NMRA spec S-7 (02-11). Each gauge has index pins that align it precisely to the rails, plus a hole in the center so it can be affixed to a rod and inserted into tunnels, between buildings and in other tight spots where fingers won't fit. Precision milled from durable 0.5mm stainless steel, these tools will last a lifetime.
• NOTE: These gauges are designed to meet NMRA specifications. NZT cannot be held responsible for commercial products that do not comply with NMRA clearance specs. Please check your rolling stock against the gauges to verify compliance, and adjust your modeling practices accordingly!

Track Bumpers

NZT is proud to announce a series of four different track bumpers designed specifically to fit Micro-Trains' Micro-Track. The castings come in a neutral grey, as seen in the image. They just need some dabs of paint, stains and rust as appropriate to bring them to life. They are highly detailed: look for the bolts on the Hayes wheel stops -or- the remains of the clamps that held the forms together on the "Medford" bumper. Installation is a snap: simply remove the one rail joiner at the end of the track, and slip the wheel stop right into place. Shown below are the test castings.

• This is based on a prototype found in Medford, Oregon, that I've not seen anywhere else, hence the name. Utter simplicity is the order of the day: concrete was poured into a wooden box to create a monolith that seems to dare anything to pass. Its prototype twin still has the plywood form mostly intact.

• Western-Cullen-Hayes Inc. is the manufacturer of these steel assemblies, which can be bolted to the track quickly and easily—almost as easy as it is for the modeler to install. Cosmetically matching roadbed wraps all the way around for a seamless, finished look with Micro-Track.

• Likely there are no two of these ubiquitous bumpers to be found that are the same. In their simplest form, they're nothing more than a heap of dirt; the fancier ones, like this one, feature wooden cribbing to hold stone, sand or earth in place, and present a steel striking plate to take the hits from couplers.

• Vaguely resembling pyramids with their tops chopped off, these massive cast concrete blocks can be found on many roads besides the PRR, which presumably invented it. When you're serious about stopping cars, this'll do the job.

Re-Railer Road Crossing

At last, Z Scale has a rerailer that looks as good as it works—and it works like a champ. Made to fit
Micro-Trains' Micro-Track, the NZT MTL rerailer is available in two flavors:
• One that looks like a wide paved road (ZD-019) • One that looks like a narrow dirt road (ZD-021)
There's also a parallel track add-on option for the paved road version (ZD-020) that allows you
to create grade crossings that cross as many parallel tracks as you might have. -The NZT MTL Rerailer is very easy to install-
Simply glue the three parts to the roadbed of any straight stretch of track (it does not need to be in the center of a track section). If the track already has ballast or scenery material on it, this will have to be completely removed in order for the rerailer to fit properly.

• If your Z Scale layout has roads, chances are you'll need railroad crossing signs. These crossbucks are accurately-scaled and feature readable lettering. The kit includes four signs—enough for two grade crossings—and consist of fine resin castings and peel-and-stick graphics. • Track not included.

Used Ties, Small Piles & Singles

• NZT brings you a unique yet simple detail loaded with character. Real wood scale ties were carefully distressed to mimic the features of real used ties, right down to the splits and tie plate indentations, then faithfully replicated. • Often you'll find small piles of decades-old ties sprinkled here and there along the right of way, slowly decaying in the sun. • You'll be amazed at how much more realistic your layout can be when you add details such as this.

55-Gallon Drums

What makes these drums stand out from the crowd? They're not made in two-part molds; they're pulled endwise from one-part molds, so they have no parting lines. This requires the use of special slow-cure, high-resolution casting resin and deep, high-strength molds. We happen to think it's worth all of the extra work—these Z Scale drums look better than many available for larger scales. They are definitely foreground details!

Packing Crates

These detail sets feature wooden crates in various sizes and groupings. All of the masters were meticulously crafted from hand-cut strip wood, with some strips measuring as small as .012 x .006 inches. The smallest crate is a mere 7 x 8 x 18 inches in Z Scale. No shortcuts were taken, either: the small plain crates are not simply "cubes" of solid wood—they're each assembled from seven individual parts, while boarded sides are made board-by-board. These details are suitable for foreground settings on any layout.

Switch Machines* *These are non-functional models of prototypical track switch devices.

The humble switch machine is perhaps one of the most frequently overlooked details in small scale model railroading. One reason is they're not available commercially. NZT is fixing that. Based on one of several common prototype styles (right), the NZT Z Scale switch machines are finely detailed, thanks to exquisite laser mastering by Stonebridge Models. The switch machines are cast in black (the prototypes are usually either black or silver), and the roadbed parts are textured and tinted to match the corresponding roadbed track products as best as practical. Assembly is simply a matter of coloring the ties (brown and/or black Sharpies work well for this), bonding the switch machine to the roadbed, and bonding the assembly to the switch; the switch machine can be attached to either side of the switch.

Ground Throws* *These are non-functional models of prototypical track Ground Throws.

Real track switches will always have some visible means of actuating them. If it's not a powered switch machine, then it will be a manual device, such as a switch stand or ground throw. NZT's ground throws are modeled after one of many designs. These replicas are as close to scale as practical thanks to exquisite laser mastering by Stonebridge Models. Two types of ground throw are offered: an older style which is still very prevalent today and a newer version, which is nicknamed the "backsaver" because of the larger, ergonomic lever retrofitted to the original gear case. These ground throws come as unassembled kits. Each kit includes enough parts to make a pair of ground throws. The two castings in the older style kit have the lever facing alternate directions, so as to reduce the "clone" effect where multiple throws are in close proximity. For the newer style kit, the backsaver lever can be attached facing in either direction. Both kits include four variations of the red target shape, and spare target parts are provided, since they are incredibly small. The kits feature only first-generation castings; all molds and castings are cured under high pressure for optimum quality, and the add-on details are finely laser-cut. All parts are made in appropriate colors, so painting is not required, although a little rust and grime will enhance realism.

• IMPORTANT: The parts in these kits are extremely small and delicate, quite possibly the tiniest parts you've ever handled! Consequently, the kits are not intended for beginner modelers. Great care and precision must be exercised when handling them to avoid breakage. A sharp knife, tweezers, thick CA, good light and magnification are required for assembly.

Twelve Household Appliances

• Although originally created for the TBS Jay Kay Appliances kit, this set seemed like a good candidate for the detail department. They should appeal to modelers into interior detailing, among others; for instance, given some rust and dings, they could be fodder for a junkyard. Or, strap some to the back of a pickup truck, and watch your visitors' eyes pop! • The appliances come suspended in a carrier film. Simply cut the desired appliance out with a sharp knife. The sets feature only first-generation castings; all molds and castings are cured under high pressure for optimum quality, and the resin is pre-tinted a neutral color to make painting easier.

-Gas Meters-

• Found on countless homes across the country (indeed, the world), gas meters come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. For this reason, a carefully-chosen meter size will suit both N and Z Scales. Now you can add that final touch to your layout's houses, thanks to the fine laser mastering by Stonebridge Models. • All molds and castings are cured under pressure for optimum quality. The resin is pre-tinted an appropriate color to make painting easier—a few hints of rust here and there, and a dab of white paint on the meter display, are all that's needed.

Fire Hydrants

• It's hard to go far in the real world without coming across a fire hydrant. NZT offers fire hydrants in Z scale that are about as close to scale as humanly possible. Shown below with figures for scale reference, they come molded in the appropriate color and are offered in sets of three. • These castings are pulled endwise from the molds, eliminating any parting lines. This is harder to do, but the results are worth the extra effort. All molds and castings are cured under high pressure for optimum quality. Commercial Air Conditioning Units

• While the're harder to spot in real life, since many reside on building rooftops, we get to see them more readily as modelers looking down on our layouts. The units are also found sitting on concrete pads along the sides or backs of stores and small factories. Put 'em where you need 'em and enjoy their exquisite laser mastering by Stonebridge Models. • All molds and castings are cured under pressure for optimum quality. The resin is pre-tinted an appropriate color to make painting easier or optional—a little weathering is all that's needed to add a super-detailed look to your buildings.

Commercial Exhaust Fans

• Any commercial establishment where food is prepared, you'll find exhaust fans like these. Real ones come in a wide array of sizes and shapes. • All molds and castings are cured under pressure for optimum quality. The resin is pre-tinted an appropriate color to make painting easier. A few streaks of grease is all that's needed in most cases to add a super-detailed look to your buildings • IMPORTANT: These items are extremely delicate! Great care must be exercised when working with them. They are not recommended for beginner modelers.

Wood Retaining Wall

• The master was fabricated from individual basswood boards, and the castings are tinted a neutral earthen color to make painting easier, or even optional—in most cases, a light India ink wash is all you'll need to achieve a finished appearance and bring out the wood grain and fine detail. Suitable for either N or Z Scale applications. • Track and timber portal not included.
