Painted blue and gray sides with black bands and yellow stripes, black roofs, and B&O capitol logos and yellow Baltimore & Ohio lettering. An EMD GP ( Dash 9 ) is a 4-axle diesel loco built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division between January 1954 and August 1963. Power was provided by an EMD 567C 16-cylinder engine which generated 1,750 horsepower. Many rebuilt GP9s remain in service today with shortline railroads and industrial operators; some remain in rebuilt form on some major Class I railroads, or as switcher locomotives.
