• This summer will mark the beginning of our newest series featuring 7 prototypical Baby Ruth® freight cars from the 1920’s and early 30’s. • This series will consist of six colorful billboard reefers and one tank car, all displaying elaborate ads for Baby Ruth® which was owned then by Curtiss Candy Company. Baby Ruth® was acquired by Nabisco® in 1981 and Nabisco® sold the Curtiss brands to Nestlé® in 1990.

This colorful billboard scheme painted by Curtiss Candy Company promoted their Baby Ruth Gum and Baby Ruth Candy brands. Baby Ruth was acquired by Nabisco® in 1981 and then Nabisco® sold their Curtiss brands to Nestlé® in 1990.

Leased from North American this tank car was probably used to transport bulk corn syrup or other liquid sweetener.

#MTL-518 00 390   Babe Ruth Car #6   • Released November 2015   $29.95 retail ea. #518 00 390 #NADX 4791 Freight Car #6   • 40’ Wood-Sheathed Reefer This 40’ wood reefer is owned by North American Despatch and was painted brown with yellow sides and ran on Bettendorf trucks. This colorful scheme had the typical Baby Ruth® logo on the right with the Curtiss president’s signature. Several Curtiss candies are advertised on this car, including Butterfinger.

This colorful billboard scheme painted by Curtiss Candy Company promoted their Baby Ruth Candy brands. It is similar to another Baby Ruth scheme, but does not have the words “Good Candy”. Baby Ruth was acquired by Nabisco in 1981 and then Nabisco® sold their Curtiss brands to Nestlé® in 1990.
