Chicago & North Western

In an effort to develop a new paint scheme, Great Northern decorated a number of box cars in different experimental paint schemes in 1956 and sent them across the GN network for feedback. Due to the bright and gaudy colors, this group of cars were dubbed the “Circus Cars”

Built by the Mather Stock Car Company in 1917, this wood sheathed boxcar was leased to Muncie & Western for Ball Glass Jar service.

#MTL-515 00 605   Ringling Bros.   • 40' Single Door Double-Sheathed Wood Boxcar   • Released December 2009   $29.95 retail ea. #515 00 605 Billboard #5 This wood-sheathed car is painted brown and features a colorful representation of an actual Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey ® poster. These massive, powerful animals demonstrated truly impressive skills in these very popular acts. The artists of this 1920s poster did an excellent job illustrating bears wire walking, stilt walking, riding bicycles, skating, dancing and playing instruments.
