The Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad (CRI&P RR) (RI, ROCK) was a Class 1 USA Railroad. It was also known as the Rock Island Line, or, in its final years, The Rock. The Rock had trackage in Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Texas. A once great Railroad, praised in song and print, it failed to reorganize or merge during the 1960's-70's and, sadly, was liquidated in 1980.
