These cars were built for the Ontario Northland Railroad in 1946. Eventually, 75 of them were culled off and equipped with heavy-duty trucks and parts, rating them to 80-Ton cars, for use in ore traffic from the mines in Dane, Ontario. Hay Brothers was able to craft wonderful ruddy ore loads which sit low in the cars, true to prototype because of the heavier weight, and heaped over the heavy-duty trucks, which are mud and iron ore stained for more realism. A quite stunning model, indeed! The bulk of the prototype hoppers was used for coal service, both in Canada and into Pennsylvania and Ohio, USA!

The Ontario Northland Railway (ONT) is a Canadian railway in operation since 1902 and headquartered in North Bay, Ontario. It's mainline is located entirely in Ontario, but has spurs reaching into Quebec. Important for the economic growth of the province, during construction through the Canadian Shield, valuable minerals, gold, silver, copper and nickel were discovered. Other commercial ores and the forests of Northern Ontario became exposed via the railroad. Here, Full Throttle presents two hoppers from the Line, one equipped for hauling coal, and the other for iron ore traffic.
